So You're Accepted...Now What?
Deciding Where to Go
There are many things that make up the decision on where you end up going to college. For some the biggest factor is price and what financial aid the school offered them. For others, they want to go to their dream school no matter what it costs. Now the reality of college is coming alive and you and your parents are wondering how to pay for it. Make sure you consider the pros and cons of each college and go through them carefully. Do you really like the city? Is the school too big or too small? Are you too far from home? You want to make your freshman year as comfortable as possible, so choose wisely.
Orientation
Once you decide to go to XYZ, they will organize an information session. It usually runs anywhere from 1 to 3 days to get you familiar with all the aspects of college life. You will set up your schedule, tour the campus, meet with a counselor to discuss your plan for the next four years, and stay in the dorms. Often a separate orientation will be held for your parents detailing financial responsibilities, what you will be doing at college (no not partying) and other information not concerning you. Your orientation is much more fun than your parents. Once orientation is done you usually get to go home and enjoy the rest of the summer. It will be fall before you know it.
